ABOUT ME

My name is Erica Wissick. I came to United States at five years old from Seoul, South Korea as an international adoptee through an American international adoption agency that operated in conjunction with the Korean government in the 1980’s. I was of the first cohorts of international adoptees who came to the U.S, what was an unregulated industry. My adoption ended up what’s referred to a “broken adoption”, meaning it didn’t work out.
At fifteen years old, I had run away and voluntarily signed myself into state custody until emancipated at nineteen to be totally responsible for my subsistence. When I first came to the U.S., I lived with a family in rural New Jersey for 16 months. They initially intended to adopt me, but didn’t once the woman became pregnant. For the most part, I do not remember my time there, only bits and pieces; probably because I was so neglected. I was then sent to Fairport, a suburb that’s about 40 minutes from Rochester, NY. This time I was adopted. I was seven years old; I arrived at the Wissicks doorstep unable to count to ten, ignorant of the alphabet, and had a host of ailments from severe neglect. According to one of the few sheets of documents from Seoul, my only accompaniment, I had no reported sicknesses or defects at the time of my departure. Despite my condition and severe neglect, the adoption placement reports relay that I was a loquacious kid. I had won over the the adoptive couple with being such a talker. This I do remember. Things started to change once I became an adolescent, something the adoptive woman was unprepared for as she never had birth kids, and by the time I entered the picture, she was in her mid-forties. The adoptive man had kids from his first marriage. None of whom I met.
This Substack isn’t about my adoption or life per se. I start with this introduction to show that I’m familiar with social injustice; in fact, I’m a victim of social injustice though I’ve never considered myself as such. The social justice movement wasn’t around when I was growing up as the only Asian in my entire high school of all-white suburb or as the only Asian in the Child Welfare Social Services in upstate NY; and I’m glad it wasn’t. That is, I’m glad I never saw myself as victim.
Going by the first two images above—do I look like an orphan/foundling/runaway/foster kid/or marginalized adult? No, I don’t. No one ever suspected my past until the fraud that’s taken over my life and I divulged my formative years. If anyone knows a thing or two about social injustice, it’s me. But I never played the victim card, I don’t need to. I’m American, and in America, you control your fate. I control how I want to be perceived and project myself accordingly. I don’t need to lecture others on “bias” as though I’m not at fault of it myself. People take me for how I want to be taken, privileged, and indeed, I’m privileged to be me. I matter to myself, and that’s enough for me. The third image is the only image I have of myself and the adoptive couple, and the only image of myself before selfies. I found it on one of the adoptive man’s family members’ social media. If you look closely, you can see that I’m holding the adoptive woman’s hand like a doll. The adoptive man is behind her.

Screenshots above: The three pieces of paper above are all that came with me from Seoul, South Korea. Everything is UNKNOWN. Does that afflict me with identity issues? or feeling like I don’t matter? or a bereavement from a disconnect with ancestors and heritage? Not at all. I’m perfectly ok with starting with Me, Myself, and I. In America, people like me still count and can make something of ourselves. America is a very young country that doesn’t have the dynastic, monarchal or tribal past as other countries. My adoption was at the height of globalization of the 1980’s, what started a new era of interconnectedness, making the world smaller and what Thomas Friedman said, “flatter.” I am America’s formation, a new phenomenon, an original. I have no past, only a future.
I do not buy the victimization narrative or the hyper and toxic identity politics of today’s so-called progressives that’s really fraud. The photocopy image is all I have of myself from Korea. Do I seem remotely like the little orphan in the black-and-white photocopy to the first two images? No, I don’t. I’m proof that in the United States it’s all about will-to-power, and so long as you matter to yourself, nothing will stop you, so long as you go for it, like Nike, the winged goddess. In America, anything is possible. We are Americans, the envy of the world; we are not victims. Feel privileged without the entitlement and without judgement of those who have less or more than you because it’ll only bog you down. I grew up with everyone having loving parents or a parent that I didn’t have—Did I judge anyone for that? Hate anyone for that? No. I would’ve hated the world if I was inclined to be that way and the hate would’ve destroyed me. By intuitive will-to-survive I never compared myself to anyone because I always knew intuitively I was different, and I liked being so. I had superpowers others didn’t have. I mattered to myself and that was enough for me.
Shortly after the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 to the present, great injustices have been happening to me. That’s what this Substack is about. I’ve been a victim of cybercrimes involving fraud and scams, online stalking, oppression, terrorism—all while a person of color female in NYC where I’ve lived for 17+ years. The criminals appear to be a transnational criminal organization who have a political agenda along with whatever else may be their objective. Because I don’t adhere to their agenda—because my freedom doesn’t have a price tag—and instead, I’m defending myself against their crimes the only way I can as someone without family or resources—telling the internet what’s been happening to me—they have made me their full-time job with lots of overtime in retaliation, obstruction, and terrorism. That’s what this Substack is about—whistleblowing the fraud and terrorism, and that a criminal organization appears to be behind it.

EXAMPLE NYT ARTICLES ON SCAMS & FRAUD

Screenshots above: All NYT articles after 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
The effects of fraud is akin to a slow murder. It may not be the murderer pulling the trigger to a person’s head or slashing with a knife a person’s throat, but the consequences are just as devastating. It devastates means to subsist and self sufficiency, it’s a loss and violation like none other for involving unchartered territory, the metaverse, that leaves one starkly alienated and helpless. It devalues, degrades, and dehumanizes.

EXAMPLE NYT ARTICLES ON THE DAMAGE

Screenshots above: All the above NYT articles are after 2020 Covid-19 pandemic when the onslaught of scams, robocalls, fraud surged.
We often hear that crime has gone down in the U.S., but that doesn’t reflect what falls under the category of cybercrimes. Fraud, scams, delivery package theft, data and account breaches, identity thefts, doxing and other online harassment, extortion/sextortion, cyberstalking—none are counted as crimes. It’s only violent street crimes that are counted as crime. For whatever unknown and odd reason the criminal justice system hasn’t yet absorbed that like everything else the criminal world has moved online.

EXAMPLES OF FRAUD ON MY DEVICE
Screenshot above: Endurance website shows the the number 800-253-8203. Endurance ads frequently show on Roku. Nearly all the ads have different 800 numbers.
Video shows search results to the Endurance number 800-253-8203. Porn shows for some links.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE

Screenshots above: Ad for National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association showed on NYT’s website on 12-22-24, about two weeks after the murder of United Healthcare’s executive in NY. All ads are linked to fraud, at least from my devices.

Screenshots above: First screenshot is after googling National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association under images. Many recognizable people who are on several other websites, platforms, social media accounts, ads followed by examples: ADT. FDIC. Pfizer. Schneider Electric. SureScripts.
Clicking on the blue button “view”, in the first screenshot shows totally unrelated website on kitchens that’s in a foreign language:
Video above: The website appears to be on kitchen cabinetry, even though the URL shows “sex trafficking and healthcare”. (To better view video - link).
ANOTHER EXAMPLE
Video above shows search results for National Grid. Search results at first only show 3 pages, then 21 pages as I click on page links. It reverts back to 3 pages when placing cursor back to search and hitting Enter on keyboard.
Drastically restricted search results is one example of hijacked critical infrastructure. Adult content also frequently shows for links. I pay $99.99/month for Verizon Fios, plus $3.50 service charge for the times I’m obstructed from logging in my account and forced to pay over the phone. More examples of influenced internet in posts.

I suggest starting from the most recent post and working backwards. I’ve been documenting on Substack since 07-05-2022, but published only Dec 2024 to present. Please excuse the grammatical errors and if I’m not always fluid in my writing. I’m under immense strain. There may be duplicate words, paragraphs, images, what I believe to be the effects of malware. My posts look cramped and that may be off-putting to some. I’m sensitive to design myself, but I don’t have the time nor capacity to worry about the layout.
